Element Poster Series
For my Graphic Design III class we were tasked in creating a triptych poster series about the elements of the periodic table. We had full freedom in the creative direction of the series. My 3 part poster series titled “FLEE, THOU PEASANTS!” is about the noble gasses (only noble gases are allowed here no peasants!). The three gasses that I highlighted are Helium, Krypton, and Radon. This series aims to educate about these three noble gas elements on the periodic table while employing medieval typography, colors, and styles. I wanted this poster series to have a “courtly” design aesthetic to evoke the essence of nobility to reflect the noble gasses theme. I uses gothic styled typography combined with old English inspired by medieval manuscripts. To further emphasize the medieval manuscript feel, I hand drew all of the illustrations that are on the posters to pay homage to the laborious craftsmanship done during the medieval period. I also hand drew all the element symbols as well. These hand drawn illustrations were then vectorized in Adobe Illustrator where the rest of the poster including the layout and colors were created.
